Piles in closets thrown haphazardly into boxes don’t count as organization. No…really, they don’t. How do you get your photos ready for scrapping?
When I was beginning to scrapbook, my sister showed me her way of doing this and I’ve stuck with it ever since. First, I print the photos I want to scrap.
Then I sort them into LO’s by means of putting events together. Currently I am putting one month in a year into one binder. So, I go through all the pictures for that month and sort them into an album…directly into the sleeves where the completed LO will eventually go.
As you have noticed, I am behind in my scrapping. However, sometimes I DO scrap a current photo. So I do have LO’s completed for the year I was organizing in these photos (2007). I put those into the album they will have a permanent home and sort other photos around them.
I am using American Crafts binders right now and I decided to put labels on the spine so finding certain photos and completed LO’s would be easier.
I have January-August 2007 ready to scrap….
I am needing to order photos for the rest of this year, but right now I don’t have anymore shelf space free to put these albums on. Anyone want to take a trip to Ikea with me???? They have the perfect shelving system. Too bad Ikea is 4.5-5 hours ago. Frown.
Thanks for looking!

This is a great idea! I just have mine sorted in the CM photo boxes with labels
I've got a few boxes where I store photos I don't have an immediate idea and an album with some that I have ideas for. Plus some very nice neat stacks that I haven't sorted yet and these are the ones I always use. Because I see them and that works for me.
And I go to IKEA with you but only the Edmonton one Wembley is too crowded. ;-)
Ahem - there are THREE IKEAs within an hour or so from my house... I took you to one. Come and visit :)
