Update on the homeschooled cat….

caWell, as you can see Smudge is taking being a homeschooled cat in stride.

We only have one more day left in this experiment before moving on to something else.  I can tell you that I am GLAD that I will have a clean windowsill again in my dining room.  It’s driving me nuts looking at the science clutter.  LOL……
Here’s the pictures from Friday:

Poor innocent kitty

I mean look at this sweet little face.  How could you do anything at all to him?
babykitty1
But you’ll find him being dragged around, hugged on and overly loved almost every second of every day.  One of five kiddos has him…

And if the kids weren’t bad enough…the mommy helps out….

Chronicles of the Homeschooled Cat

This week we are learning the basics of Chemistry in Science. We talked about matter today. (My smart alec child said "what's the maddah with you?") The Kindergarten objective was to let the child know that EVERYTHING has matter. To bring the point home, I gave the two little ones 5 index cards with the word "matter" printed on them and had them go around and place them on matter. They really wanted to tape it to the cat. I think he knew that and kept running from them.

So...needless to say, just prior to lunch I saw this:

Poor Kitty....and yes he's really learning in our home...he's figured out how to open the doors (we have lever handles on our inner doors) and the storm blinds (No easy feat since it takes me pulling with my weight to lift them...he uses his teeth). I guess homeschool suits Smudge well.

OH boy...bad blogger again....

I am sorry...life is so busy right now. Now that I've got it all unpacked, schooling is taking precedence again. We are studying the HX of the Roman Empire and then comparing their government with ours. Cool study. We finish this unit end of next week (for you fellow Weavers, it's Volume 5, Chapter 2).

I promised some photos of Smudge's stripes. So here's a picture or two of his stripes up close and personal.

And of course...I MUST catch you up a bit by letting you know how awesome Clip It Up is!! the movers lost my hex bolt so I wasn't able to put my Clip It Up together. I contacted the company who promptly sent me another one!!! WHOHOOOOOOO....

Here it is put together...let's NOT discuss the fact that i really could use a second one as there is a whole drawer in this dresser full of stuff....YIKES

Then of course the madatory pix of the kiddos.... LOL

New member of our family

Introducing....

Smudge.

He's about 8-9 weeks old. He's kind of an interesting kitten. He's black as you can see BUT he has darker black stripes that I didn't manage to get a photo of. I suspect that better lighting (daylight) would catch them and I will try when I am not so crazy busy.

I know...bad blogger...bad

I am sorry...gals...this blog isn't real high on my priority list right now with IT, DT and moving stuff going on. Next week is absolutely going to be nuts as I handle several appointments for our upcoming overseas move.

On that note...it's after midnight and I haven't done my lesson planning. Night....

Update on us

Everyone is now feeling better as far as that icky flu virus goes. Patrick ended up with it last on Wednesday of last week but he was only sick for about 12 hours THE BUM. :D

I've come down with another head cold. I've decided that me getting sick all the time MUST be related to stress. I guess I will just have to deal with it all-LOL. This "cold" actually is behaving more like seasonal allergies and may be what it is. We shall see. It's not getting bad.

So we got ourselves a new "baby" last week. He's super cute and daddy christened him, Toby. He's quite the little spitfire though. He does NOT like the other two cats and is really having a hard time settling in with them. Sylvester weighs about 10# and this tiny little guy growls and chases him away. Sylvester could have him for a snack....sheesh. But Toby introduced himself via smacking him on the face and growling. He sounds like a full grown adult cat. I've had to break up more cat fights in the last week-LOL. Even skittish Chloe chases Toby and tries to eat him. LOL.

Pat is in the field this week playing army. For those of you who pray please pray for my sanity. Tyler is giving me the HARDEST time these days. He ran away from home last night because he was mad at me for taking away something near and dear to his heart. He has the option of earning it back but he just decided that he couldn't bear with it. I found him riding his bike back towards the house on his way home as he decided he couldn't do that to me. We had a long ole talk this morning. I think we managed to work things out. I know being a teen is tough work but being a teen's parent is tougher. There are days when I don't think I can DEAL with his crap anymore. HEY I DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR THIS CRAP....LOL.

Our first week of school was Monday of this week. I am feeling so much stress trying to make sure I juggle all the ages/grades. I know that only with God can I homeschool this brood of mine and only He is getting me through the days. I've gotten 5 hours of sleep each night and am totally beat today. I hope I am in the process of training my body to a normal sleep cycle. BLECK. 7 a.m. surely comes EARLY.

Anyway our first day of school went like clockwork. The kids seemed to enjoy their lessons and we were able to get completely done by about 2. This included pre-school for the two little ones who are havin a tough time getting up so early. Seth, in fact, went to bed 45 minutes ago because he was just too tired. He's not napping anymore at naptime-just playing quietly in his room until Emily wakes up from her nap.

Well I need to fold a load of laundry and then get Emily out of the tub (Courtney is bathing her). Oh yeah and Tyler wants me to dye his hair black...well OK then.....(it's so close to black I think he's going to be disappointed when we are finished). Outta here....

Been playing in my scrap space today

And I did two LO's. One of them is a LO of one of our "twin" kitties, Chloe. When I took the photo I thought I was taking a picture of her brother, Sylvester. I even uploaded this photo into my siggy line at ScrapGoods and said it was Sylvester. Then I had the photo blown up for this LO. Low and behold there's that tell-tale thin white stripe from her bottom lip to the white on her chest-LOL. That's the only way I could tell the two kitties apart when we first got them!! Back to the LO. This is a Backporch Memories kit (gasp it's NOT SG) I added the sticker, the flowers, and chipboard letters from my stash!

This second LO is ahem....well, not my usual style that's for sure. I have not been able to wrap my brain around this new trend of Freestyle. And that presents a problem as far as I am concerned...a challenge that I HAD to take on. So here's my feeble attempt at Freestyle. Maybe it will grow on me....

A Hairy update and a LO and some more pix

Let's see..the ongoing hair saga. It has been 11 weeks since I have gotten it cut and I hated it so badly. It took me 3 weeks to stop hiding in the house (you think I am kidding-LOL...NOT). So the regular lady was available yesterday to cut it and I made the appointment. I was so nervous all day long. I didn't want a repeat. I should just trust the girl...she does an excellent job. When she asked me what I wanted her to do and asked if I was still growing out the sides (yes!!!), i told her that Sara had cut it last time but I didn't like the way the back was so much longer than the sides. And she responded with "I don't either". That was the first thing she fixed LOL. Anyway, it looks MUCH better. The layers aren't as choppy and flow better. However, there is STILL damage in it-mostly just on that one side. She said about another inch-UGH!! So two more haircuts maybe. Let's hope and pray!!

I finally finished this LO tonight. I started it days ago but I have been busy and only scrapping here and there.

And of course we can't go without the cute pix, right???

OK....guilty as charged....

Yep that's me...avoiding my blog because I know I haven't been keeping up with it at all. I am just sooooo stinking busy right now I can't see straight. I know that's no excuse because each and every one of you are just as busy as I am. I keep promising I will do better...we shall see. OK, pictures. That's Courtney playing in our icy snow this week. There were 6" of snow on top of 4" of ice. Now all we are left with is the icky ice. Thankfully, that is almost all gone now. The roads are drivable (SP??).
I took this picture on Sunday before we left for Wal-Mart. Those stairs are right next to our front door and the light from the windows was filtering in and created that cool halo effect....LOVE this picture of Emily. She was tickled with her cute little beret.
These are our new babies: Chloe is on the left and Sylvester is on the right. They are virtually identical so we put collars on them to tell them apart but they DITCHED them somewhere. So we had to find another way. Chloe has a thin white marking that runs from her lower lip all the way to the white on her belly.
Blogger didn't upload my pix in the order I wanted them to (go figure) but this is Seth in the snow the same day as Courtney.
THIS is Emily's infectious smile...I love that big ole grin.
