Forgeries on the Fourth - January 2023 CKCB

It's the fourth and that means the team over at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog has some wonderful forgeries for you from our Inspiration Kit!  Let me remind you of the Inspiration Kit for the month which the December 2022 Hip Kit Club kit!

I chose to counterfeit the wooden Thickers-style set from their Embellishment Kit using my Cameo and the Silhouette Studio Software!  Here's a good view of those:

If you'll remember from my post on the first, I had mentioned that I was steering clear of the wintery theme of the Inspiration Kit.  There's two reasons for that: 1) I am not scrapbooking winter photos right now and 2) I own the December HKC kit and I can use it for winter photos once they are printed.

This is a screenshot of my software before I did any cutting.  Here are the design numbers and/or names so you can find them on the Silhouette Studio Design Store!!

  • Font - LD Funky Chunky
  • Hearts - Nested Hearts - Design #310559
  • Branches - Design #395963
  • Stars - Echo Park - Design #27272
  • Snowflakes - Design #71933
  • Scallop Border - Lori Whitlock - Design #10466
I chose not to make the words cold or December because I didn't think I would get around to using those right now.  The first thing I did was use a piece of the woodgrain that I had in my January kit and cut out the designs.

The next step I took was to cut out the designs again-TWICE-in white cardstock.  I am going to stack the designs and glue them together to create the dimension of chipboard.  Here's my finished designs!

Forgeries On The Fourth - September CKCB

There were so many things that you could counterfeit in this month's inspiration kit.  So, let me remind you of the kit that we are pulling inspiration from!

There were digital stamps to copy but I really wanted to copy some of the stickers which you can see in the picture below!  I will be making mine out of die cuts and they'll become stickers whenever I glue them on a page (HAHAHAHA)!

I found some cut files in Silhouette Studio.  Here are the properties of the cut files that I thought would work well with this kit.  I haven't cut any of them yet but wanted to make sure you had the info you needed to buy them from Silhouette Studio Store.  Of course there are hearts available on their site as well but I didn't pull any of those!

I also cut some floral ephemera with a set of PinkFresh Studios stamps, stencils, and die!  These came out so cute!  This is their "Be Strong" set.  I made these in yellow and pink, but am showing you only the yellow for my September kit!  I did stick the pink ones into my kit as well since my papers have some pink in them.  They definitely won't go to waste!

Finally, I made a few titles, labels and journaling bits for my kit using the stamps and dies that I pulled from my stash!  I really love that PinkFresh alpha set!  Stamping was done with PinkFresh Studio ink pads (stargazer, storm, slumber, sky blue, marigold, and lemon whip). The butterfly die cut in the second photo was cut from a set of Anna Griffin dies that a friend sent me in some Happy Mail that I received August 31st!  I was so pleased that they kinda matched the ones in our Inspo Kit!

I hope that these forgeries give you a starting point to create some of your own embellishments. The other Master Forgers have some forgeries for you as well at the CKCB blog! Check that out!

 Have a GREAT Sunday afternoon!

Forgeries on the Fourth - July 2022

Time to create some forgeries for this month's Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog inspiration kit!  There are some GREAT forgeries on the CKCB blog post today, so make sure you check those out as well.  Me?  Well, I kinda cheated!  I looked for Print & Cut images in the Silhouette Studio Store!

This is a view of my Cameo cutting out the printed images!  This actually took me FOUR tries because I forgot to resize my cutting media to letter.  OOPS.

Here are all the ones that I printed and cut out with my machine.  It gave me a few travel themed elements to work with since I really didn't focus on that theme while I built my kit.  Plus, I always need floral ephemera, don't you??  LOL

Here are the images that I used:  Blue Tag (#184036), Camera (#346886), Cute Forest Animals set (#407250), Gas Pump (#413390), Globe (#413391), Butterfly (#9600), Road Trip Map (#413392), Road Trip title (#413939), Travel Adventure Title (#346175), and Watercolor Florals (#380446).  You should be able to find these all in Silhouette Studio storefront!!

Thank you for stopping by my blog today! Have a safe and happy Independence Day!!

Forgeries on the Fourth!!

I didn't really think I was going to counterfeit anything this month!  But....I couldn't help myself.  The inspiration kit has some beautiful watercolor flowers, and I don't have any in my packs!  So, I decided to make some!!!

I remembered a set of Simon Says Stamp! stamp and die set that I bought last spring for another Design Team project and knew that one of the single flowers in the set would work! Sorry for the glare in my photo, the stamps were in their plastic envelope.

I set out to stamp and then die cut the flowers from a piece of the Vicki Boutin Field Notes patterned paper in my April kit!

I also stamped them on the back of some scraps from another one of the patterned papers in that paper pad that I had been fussy cutting earlier in the evening.

These turned out quite lovely if I say so myself!!  Make sure you check out the CKCB blog for more forgeries from our team!  Have a blessed Monday!

Forgeries on the Fourth - CKCB 2022

Today is the day that the Master Forgers show you the forgeries that they have created from inspiration the inspiration in the chosen kit!  Let me remind you of some of the goodies in this month's chosen kit!

There are some very lovely bows from grossgrain ribbon and felt.  Plus, there were lots of labels in the kit!  I love using labels on my layouts!  So, let's start there!  I found some great labels from Illustrated Faith that I included in my kit.  You can see them here in this photo..kinda...

I purchased those here and here. They were only three dollars and I printed them on white cardstock.  I can reprint as often as I want!  Great way to get some labels. You could also run them through a Xyron to make them stickers if you'd like.

Next up, I really loved those bows.  I had recently purchased a bow die set from Spellbinders on clearance and so I used it to cut some denim looking bows from a piece of the patterned paper I had in my kit.  I might try to get some felt ones too. These are fairly large bows!

I ended up not adhering them to a paper clip because I only have mini clips in rose gold.  Plus, I think they’ll be more versatile without the clips limiting where I can attach them.

You should definitely check out the CKCB blog today to see what the other Master Forgers and the Guest Designer has for you to create from your stash!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today.

Forgery on the Fourth!!

This month I really wanted to counterfeit the library cards from the original kit!  Let's take a look at those from the Felicity Jane Emily kit. Here's a reminder of their version:

I had a set of Close To My Heart library card stamps that I chose to work with.  I used some PinkFresh Studio Marigold ink to stamp them onto cardstock!

Here's my process of stamping, which isn't anything special at all!  HA!

And my finished product!

I'll cut these out by hand whenever I need them for a layout, but I do like how they turned out.  I wasn't sure I'd like the colored ink, rather than my normal black or gray, but they are kind of cool!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  Make sure you check out the CKCB blog for more Forgeries on the Fourth inspiration!!

Forgeries on the Fourth-September Edition!

Today is the day that the Master Forgers share with you our creations that we duplicated from the monthly Inspiration Kit. I was very inspired this month and set about duplicating a few elements from the kit right away!  First I want to share the washed out denim paper that I created using my stash and a bottle of bleach cleaner.

I sprayed the paper backed denim with bleach spray and left it to sit out in the sun to do some magic!  Once it reached the washed out look I desired, I brought it indoors to rinse out the bleach and allowed it to dry.  The denim did shrink a little but I like how this turned out!

Next, I really wanted to duplicate those adorable buttons from the main kit which you can see below.

I had some wooden buttons in my stash.  So, I decided to tea dye them.

I left them to soak in the tea for about an hour and then pulled them out to allow them to dry.

They looked really dark while I was waiting on them to dry but I decided having some patience was in order.  After about 24 hours, I was able to move on to the next step.

I flipped the buttons to their back side so I'd have a smooth surface to stamp.

The finished results were close enough!

I also really wanted to create a forgery of this beautiful piece of paper in the original kit.

I used a piece of Heidi Swapp's Hawthorn patterned paper and some Silhouette Studio cut files to create my forgery.  I know mine is more pink than the original but I kind of like it.

As I need them, I might create some of the cute frames from the 6x8 paper pad in my kit.  The inspiration kit had some of the ephemera from the Late Afternoon collection, but I didn't have that in my stash. It's fine because I found plenty of other things to use instead.

Make sure you check out the CKCB Blog today for more inspiration!
